Wayne B. Guymon, PhD
Born and raised in Provo, Utah
Attended Columbia College in New York City as an undergraduate majoring in French
Also obtained a Masters and PhD from Columbia University
Specialized in the application of the methodologies of linguistics and semiotics to the study of French Medieval Literature.
Granted a Whiting Fellowship to pursue studies in Paris.
Published numerous articles on the semiotics of French Poetry as a graduate student.
Also published a limited number of poems
Lived for extended periods in Canada (mostly in the Province of Quebec), Paris, France, the island of Crete, Honduras and Guatemala. Traveled frequently on business to the UK visiting all of the best gardens in England during his weekends there. Enjoyed vacationing in the Far East: Thailand, Bali, Hong Kong, China, & Cambodia
Worked for American Express, Merrill Lynch, EMI Music and Towers Perrin in the field of computing, eventually filling the role of a Divisional Chief Information Officer.
Retired early in 2004 to garden full-
WynEden is open to the public by appointment and has been visited by numerous local and national garden associations as well as groups from England and Ireland.
WynEden has been featured in The Green Scene, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Martha Stewart Living.
Wayne is a past President of the Delaware Valley Hosta Society and he is also an avid collector of Rhododendrons and Azaleas, currently raising over 7,000 of these in his garden at WynEden. He enjoys lecturing on the principles and philosophy of garden design.
Besides gardening, he loves to read, travel and listen to classical music. He is also extremely fond of his dog, Nico, and, of course, his wife Doris.
